Install appropriate security check – Mahama tells WAEC

President John Mahama has urged WAEC to put its house in order, describing as disappointing the reported leakage of examination papers in the ongoing Senior High School Certificate Examination(WASSCE).
He’s directed the Bureau of National(BNI) to collaborate with the examining body to bring culprits to book in the scandal.
WAEC following last year’s leakage in similar exams claimed to have advanced a software into the system that will check cheating in exams this year, but the mechanism deployed yielded no fruits as three papers have already been leaked in the ongoing WASSCE raising concerns about WAEC’s integrity in the conduct of examinations.
Commenting on the issue, in the Western region, President Mahama said: “We urge WAEC to urgently work to plug all loopholes to protect the integrity of the exams.
He added: “It is most discouraging when students have prepared for three solid years only to be confronted with incidences of examination leakages. Last year in the BECE exams, the BNI was called to investigate an examination leakage and two people are being prosecuted. WAEC informed government that it is going to conduct reforms in its exams preparations. We are therefore disappointed at news of a possible leakage of the secondary school certificate exams.
At least three papers have been leaked in the ongoing WASSCE raising concerns about the conduct of the examinations, but WAEC in reaction to the scandal has stated it will not cancel any of the papers that have been leaked in the ongoing West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE)
Critics in the educational sector have expressed misgivings whether WAEC will be able to safeguard the integrity of the exams written in the country considering the rampant leakages which occur on yearly basis.
A section of Ghanaians have also suggested for the Head of WAEC, Very Rev. Mmai Ollenu to exit office to save the image of the examining body-WAEC.
